The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild features dozens of side quests that encourage players to explore every corner of Hyrule. Among these, the Missing in Action quest stands out as an exciting search-and-rescue mission set in the rugged terrain of Gerudo Canyon. Completing this task requires careful navigation along narrow mountain scaffolding and defeating hostile monsters guarding stranded travelers.
Starting the Missing in Action Quest
To begin the quest, players must head to the Gerudo Canyon Stable located at the entrance of the Gerudo region. Outside the stable, Link can speak with an NPC named Sesami who explains that his traveling companions were ambushed by monsters near the canyon walkways. Accepting his request initiates the rescue mission and marks the surrounding cliffs as your primary search area.
Locating the Four Stranded Travelers
The four missing friends are scattered along elevated wooden walkways constructed against the canyon walls. Players need to climb up to the wooden platforms west of the stable and carefully follow the scaffolding paths. Each traveler is cornered by groups of Bokoblins, requiring Link to eliminate the enemies before speaking with each person to send them safely back.
Combat Strategies for the Canyon Rescue
Navigating the narrow platforms requires a cautious approach, as falling off can lead to severe damage or missed objectives. Using long-range weapons like bows allows Link to pick off Bokoblins from a distance before approaching the platforms. Alternatively, using heavy attacks or bombs can knock enemies off the high ledges to clear the walkway quickly.
Claiming Your Quest Rewards
Once all four companions are freed, return to the Gerudo Canyon Stable to speak with Sesami once again. Relieved that his entire group has made it back safely, Sesami rewards Link with a Gold Rupee for his heroic efforts. Completing this favor not only adds to your quest log progression but also gives you valuable currency to spend on gear and travel supplies.
